Homemade hummus

Storebought hummus is pretty expensive. This recipe makes just under two pounds of hummus for way cheaper. It also tastes delicious and you can add your favorite spices. I am currently working on a hummus recipe that incorporates more flavors, so stay tuned.

Note: This hummus does not contain any preservatives, so be careful not to let it sit in your fridge too long. If you are cooking for one, I’d recommend that you halve this recipe.


2 cans garbanzo beans, rinsed

1/2 cup chickpea water (from the cans)

2 tbsp olive oil

5-10 cloves garlic, depending on how much you like garlic

1 heaping tbsp tahini

Juice and zest of one lemon


Put all ingredients in a food processor. Blend! Eat! Mmmmm.
